My Guinness World Record Attempt Fundraising Page

As a proud board member of The Book Fairies, I get to see firsthand the impact that our mission has for those we serve.

Please help me support The Book Fairies by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. We are attempting to break a Guinness World Record on November 14th for the most number and longest line of books placed end-to-end, with the goal of over 25,000 books covering almost three miles. At the end of the event, all books will be donated to the children, families, and schools of the Wyandanch Community on Long Island. [UPDATE BELOW]

Every book sponsored at $5 will advance our mission by helping us to get an additional twenty (20) books in the hands of those in need!

This fundraiser will not only help us to beat a Guinness World Record, but it is also an easy way for us to work together to help get essential learning tools into the hands of the under-served, becoming a part of the fight against illiteracy.

Many children have ZERO books in their homes!
Teachers don't have enough books in their classroom!
Schools don't have books in their libraries!

At the Book Fairies, we are working hard to "FILL THE VOID", collecting and distributing on average 45,000 books/month to children, teachers and schools in need throughout the greater NY metropolitan area. We donated our 2 millionth book in 2019.

But our Impact goes deeper than that!

We recycle almost a ton of paper per month.
Provide 180 volunteer opportunities per week for special needs individuals.
Collaborate to send over 10,000 books to Africa through our overseas partners.

But we need your help, we need funding to expand further!

Together, we can help to beat the record and fight illiteracy, one book at a time!

Ask me about the other ways in which you can get involved.

Did you know?

$232 Billion a year in health care costs is linked to low adult literacy skills. The American Medical Association estimates that 46% of adults cannot read and follow medical instructions, incurring medical expenses that are up to four times greater than patients with adequate literacy skills.

75% of Americans who receive food stamps perform at the lowest 2 levels of literacy, and 90% of high school dropouts are on welfare.

According to the National Commission on Adult Literacy: The US could save $1.4 Billion per year in reduced costs from crime if the High School completion rate increased by just 1% for all men aged 20-60.

A big thank you to everyone for your support!! Based on the surveyor report, we laid out books to cover just over 3.8 miles, which is more than a mile longer than the current record of 2.64 miles! We still have to submit all the requirements to Guinness World Record for the official approval but we are excited about the accomplishment which also enabled us to donate around 31,000 books to the children, teachers and community of Wyandanch. We would appreciate it if you consider continuing to donate to us for our ongoing mission. MEDIA COVERAGE LINKS BELOW!
